You are looking at a SCARCE fantastic addition to your American Flyer collection.
Here is an American Flyer #978 Grand Canyon Action Observation Car!! The #978 Action Observation was only made between 1956 and 1958 and is Very Desirable and Very hard to find.
This is the American Flyer Lines GRAND CANYON heavyweight observation car with the action "brakeman" (I always thought of him as a conductor).  You know the action--like the caboose version, when the car is in motion, he rides on the rear deck. When it stops, he moves to the edge so that the engineer can see him and his lantern.
This one was made 1956-58 only.  As you can see, it is a neat car, with great detail.  It has different window and ventilator detail on each side.
Flyer made this remarkable item out of the 954.
This observation is tougher to find than the other cars in the heavyweight series.

​CONDITION:
C-6 very good. Tested and works. Has some scratches in the plastic here and there, as pictured. Roof has some light scratches in the plastic mostly visible under bright light. The end opposite the rear has a thin vertical hairline crack on one side. The color on the car looks uniform. The railing has some light tarnish and scratches if you look closely. Back railing has the usual tilt to it. Lettering looks good--was a lighter factory stamping. A few letters have a slight rub. The back drumhead decal is still here with just a little off the top missing. Please scroll into the listing to see 20 pictures which you can ENLARGE.
