The Blul is a very old folk flute. Unlike the transverse flute, the Blul is fully open at both ends, and is played by blowing on the sharpened edge of one end. The Blul has 8 playing holes (8 in front and 1 in the back for thumb) . In the middle and high register the Blul resembles a flute, in the deep register approaches it the sound of a deep-played clarinet.
